Week 2 Part B - Business Research

 The Habit Burger Grill

The Habit Burger Grill is an international fast food restaurant chain. Most of their locations are in California. They were founded in Santa Barbara CA in 1969 and have grown a lot since.

The habit is visibly using Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, and TikTok. All their social media are listed at the bottom of their website.

Their Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and TikTok are used multiple times a week although they haven't posted on their TikTok for about a week. Their YouTube was used every other month, but hasn't been used in many months.

Facebook: Their last Post was on 9/5/22 at 10:01 AM. They have 204,375 followers on Facebook.

Instagram: Their last post was on 9/5/22. They have 90,500 followers on Instagram.

Twitter: Their last post was on 9/5/22. They have 9,928 followers on Twitter.

YouTube: Their last post was on 4/1/22. They have 1.58 subscribers on YouTube.

TikTok: Their last post was on 8/26/22. They have 5,196 followers on TikTok.

The Habit Burger Grill uses their social media to showcase products. I have also seen them talk to other people and communicating with others on social media. They use Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter very often. They don't really tend to use their TikTok account and don't really get that much attention on their either. They have basically abandoned their YouTube at this point because they rarely post on it and when they do they come back many months later. They also haven't posted on there in way too long compared to other times where they stopped using YouTube.


Fratelli's Italian Kitchen

Fratelli's Italian Kitchen is a local business. They sell many different Italian foods. Their location is in Oceanside CA. They are family owned and offer take-out and dine-in. They also do catering at events.

Fratelli's Italian Kitchen is visibly using Facebook and Instagram. Their social media are visible at the bottom of their website.

Their social media is used often. They post weekly both on Facebook and Instagram. They also seem to post the same posts on both social media at the same time.

Facebook: Their last post was on 9/6/22 at about 7:00 AM. They have 2,214 followers on Facebook.

Instagram: Their last post was on 9/6/22 at about 7:00 AM. They have 2,327 followers on Instagram.

Fratelli's Italian Kitchen uses social media to showcase products and to let people know that something is going to happen, like if they don't open on a certain day. They also post about events going on, such as memorial day or mother's day. They communicate a lot through social media and use both their social media the same amount of times because they post the same thing at the same time.


California Style Clothing

California Style Clothing is a local business which is based in Oceanside CA. They are a retail clothing store for men and women. They began in 2006 in the Oceanside Marketplace. They have a variety of clothing types and styles.

They are visibly using Facebook and Instagram. Their social media is visible from their Link Tree on their page. It's a bit hidden but all their social media are there.

California Style Clothing rarely uses their social media. They use it once every other month. When they post it is the same post at the same time except for their most recent post.

Facebook: Their last post was on 8/21/22. They have 347 followers on Facebook.

Instagram: Their last post was on 8/7/22. They have 2,469 followers on Instagram.

California Style Clothing Uses their social media to showcase their new items and to talk about events such as giveaways. They also use it to try to bring people into their store by giving people ideas, like telling them they should buy from their store for father's day. They communicate a lot through their social media and even though they don't really have many followers they still use their social media to bring people into their stores. They use both their social media the same, however, they have used their Facebook a little bit more.


Brixton

Brixton is a national company that began in Oceanside CA. They create clothing that is sold at large stores such as Zumiez. Brixton's clothing is inspired by vintage clothing and a variety of lifestyles.

Brixton is visibly using Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube. Their social media was very easy to find, it was at the bottom left of their website.

They post weekly or sometimes more on Facebook and Twitter. They post multiple times a week on Instagram. They abandoned their YouTube page and came back to it two months ago and have been posting two times a month.

Facebook: Their last post was on 9/4/22 at 7:50 AM. They have 110,522 followers on Facebook.

Instagram: Their last post was on 9/4/22. They have 302,000 followers on Instagram.

Twitter: Their last post was on 9/1/22. They have 8,655 followers on Twitter.

YouTube: Their last post was on 8/10/22. They have 3,970 subscribers on YouTube.

Brixton uses their social media to keep their followers updated on things such as a new location opening. They like to post about other things they are doing outside of the clothing they make. They also like to post pictures of people wearing their clothing. They don't really communicate or interact very well with their social media. They just mostly post pictures of people wearing their clothing. They use their Facebook and Instagram accounts a very similar amount. They rarely use Twitter. They have used it only twice this year. They use their YouTube a few times a month which isn't that bad, especially compared to their Twitter.


Handel's Homemade Ice Cream

Handel's Homemade Ice Cream is a national Ice Cream store. They were founded in 1945 in Youngstown, Ohio. They have 72 locations throughout 10 states. They have both franchise locations and corporate locations. 

Handel's Homemade Ice Cream is visibly using Facebook and Instagram. Their website was easy to find and was on the bottom left of their website.

They post often. They usually post once a week on both their Facebook and Instagram. They also post the same thing on both their social media. Unlike other businesses I have been looking at, however, they don't post the posts at the same time.

Facebook: Their last post was on 9/6/22 at about 4:00 PM. They have 39,649 followers on Facebook.

Instagram: Their last post was on 9/6/22 at about 7:00 AM. They have 21,700 followers on Instagram.

Handel's Homemade Ice Cream uses their social media to show pictures of their ice cream and make people want buy it. They don't really communicate or interact very well with their social media because it seems like all they are doing is posting pictures of their ice cream. It probably does make people hungry and start craving their ice cream. They use both their social media very often. They consistently post which probably allows them to have a lot of people find them through there.

Summary

By analyzing these businesses I realized that social media can be a good way of letting people updated on many things they might want to see such as events you are having. It is also a good way to have people find your products and have them find out what they might like. This could bring in sales and customers to your business. Sometimes I find something I want and just by having more people see a product it could cause more people to go buy it and maybe buy other stuff while they are at it.

I have also realized that social media that aren't used very often aren't going to have as many people looking at them. They also won't get as many people interacting with your posts, even if you have many more followers on other social media platforms. When I look at the larger companies I looked at, their larger accounts had more posts on them. Their smaller accounts' most recent posts were usually a few months ago.

I have also seen businesses post at the same time on multiple social media. I think this is a really good way of posting on multiple places just using one post. It will definitely allow for growth on those platforms with less effort than if they would've posted different things on different platforms. I also found that posting the same thing could be a bad thing because people could check on one platform and know what you have posted on other platforms too. It could cause less engagement with your posts and therefore less people will see them. 

I noticed that the places that posted more had more likes on their posts. This could've been by pure chance. I also think that the places that post more might have a team dedicated to social media because I noticed there were slight differences in the posts, so maybe the teams aren't communicating as well as if it was only two or three people working on social media.
